TELL NYS EDUCATION COMMISSIONER JOHN KING:

STOP THE TESTING MADNESS!

OUR STUDENTS ARE MORE THAN A SCORE!

DID YOU KNOW THAT…

  • NYC students are now being subjected to over-testing starting in Kindergarten

  • New Common Core standards and evaluation schemes are forcing teachers and schools to “teach to the test,” not to the individualized needs of each  unique student

  • Beginning this year, teachers and schools can be rated “ineffective” or “failing” based solely on high stakes test scores

  • The NYC DOE will not commit funds to reducing class sizes, adding teachers, or funding after-school and other wraparound services – but there’s always $$$ for more test prep schemes

  • Testing data ‘farmed’ from our students is being sold to consultants & corporations

IF YOU AGREE THAT…

HIGH STAKES TESTING ≠ EDUCATION — HIGH STAKES TEST PREP ≠ TEACHING —- COMPETITION + FEAR ≠ SUPPORT FOR LEARNING

  • AT 4:00PM, JOIN A PROTEST AT 52 BROADWAY NYC
  • THROUGHOUT THE DAY, PLEASE CALL / TEXT / TWEET NYS ED COMMISSIONER JOHN KING
