TELL NYS EDUCATION COMMISSIONER JOHN KING:
STOP THE TESTING MADNESS!
OUR STUDENTS ARE MORE THAN A SCORE!
DID YOU KNOW THAT…
NYC students are now being subjected to over-testing starting in Kindergarten
New Common Core standards and evaluation schemes are forcing teachers and schools to “teach to the test,” not to the individualized needs of each unique student
Beginning this year, teachers and schools can be rated “ineffective” or “failing” based solely on high stakes test scores
The NYC DOE will not commit funds to reducing class sizes, adding teachers, or funding after-school and other wraparound services – but there’s always $$$ for more test prep schemes
- Testing data ‘farmed’ from our students is being sold to consultants & corporations
IF YOU AGREE THAT…
HIGH STAKES TESTING ≠ EDUCATION — HIGH STAKES TEST PREP ≠ TEACHING —- COMPETITION + FEAR ≠ SUPPORT FOR LEARNING
- AT 4:00PM, JOIN A PROTEST AT 52 BROADWAY NYC
THROUGHOUT THE DAY, PLEASE CALL / TEXT / TWEET NYS ED COMMISSIONER JOHN KING
